QLD VW Open Evening (Brisbane)

OK folks, Austral have contacted me and offered to open their doors beyond normal trading hours one evening specially for VWW members. If we get enough interest they'll throw on a BBQ.

On show will be all the current crop of vehicles, including the new Golf GTI. This would be a great opportunity to meet other VWW members, have a sticky-beak at the new cars, and generally chat VW.

At this stage they haven't talked about discounts, but I'd imagine if anyone is seriously in the market that they will do a good deal.

I'll have to see if we can persuade them to do a lucky door prize or something. A Golf GTI maybe LOL... just kidding.


Seriously, open to suggestions, comments, proposed days / dates. Would anyone be interested in this, and if so please post up an expression of interest here so we can assess if it would be worth organising a VWW / Austral VW evening.

I'd imagine that test drives would at the very least have to be pre-booked for the evening - otherwise we'd have every man and their dog asking for a drive around the block and logistically that just wouldn't work - for the same reasons you can't just walk into a dealer at a busy time and expect an immediate drive.

I'll talk to them about how they'd see any test drives on the night - maybe it would be limited to a certain number of pre-booked ones. For sure though they'd arrange a time for a proper test drive (i.e. daytime, longer run etc).

When's the R20 coming out? A pre-release preview night (say, night before launch) might be a good time to arrange it?

I am in discussion with them on lucky door prizes... I think we may be disappointed asking for a GTI though LOL. Good idea on parts accessories discount, although I doubt the Parts guys will be open at that point - maybe purchased vouchers or something.

As to the Golf R - I am already in discussion with them about something special for VWW around that event. It will be mid next year, so we have plenty of time for that. I'd like to do one of these before that, and if it goes well we can see if we can make it a regular - say every 6 months or something.

Yeah, a monday or tuesday will be better for them, and better for more VWW members (tends to be less other commitments than there is wed/th/fri)

Count me in... although if the guy i WAS going to buy my car through is there and then finds out i ended up getting it from another dealer as they could not supply if could be interesting!!

Monday night is perfect for me. Although I SHOULDNT bring my other half with me as i already know she wants a Golf GTI and it could end up an expensive evening

Put me down as interested at coming to have a look. There's a good chance my dad will wan't to come along as well as he's due to replace his MkV GTI early next year.

He had a bad experience with Austral when he was looking at GTIs a few years ago so I'm sure he'll be interested to see if things really have changed for the better.

Absolutely.... this is about them making an effort for us, and opening their doors. It's all good marketing for them, which can only help, even if it is indirectly.
