Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Today made me realize I really don't like cleaning my car.
I don't mind keeping it up when it is clean, but goddam I'd rather be doing something else when it is 37 degrees out

Pretty good end result today though, so I'm still glad I buy the crap to do it.

Haha, I normally enjoy it but today was a hardship. I left it until late arvo and was still sweating like a pig!

I'm still not finished...was too hot to work on it at midday and left it a bit late to get going again this arvo!
Gonna be an early one tomorrow!!

See you all at Leederville around 8:30

EDIT: Thanks Martin for posting this up on golfmkv too. I won't hold my breathe for too many turning up though...given previous 'discussions' between these two forums haha
The event does need a larger modern contingent turning up otherwise the Club isn't gonna go anywhere fast. (The last couple of Club events have frankly had rubbish turnout despite best intentions of the organisers and they acknowledge this too). As per Rod's earlier post, if they get more people attending something like DOVW, then there is a better change of seeing more relevant categories and balancing out the obvious aircooled bias from the past. The old vans are not gonna last forever anyway so they'll have to make some changes eventually!

        Cheers

            Biggest turnout

Top attendance - over 200 cars throught the gate and 2 troophies taken home by the VWW's. Thanks for your support. The Corrado was sweeeet and it was so close to taking home a trophy (I should know )
Next year the 1st Sunday in December is the 5th. But now is the time to provide some positive feedback and have some input on classes, venue, sponsors and help on the day. Keep an eye on www.vwclubwa.com

My pics are loading now I'll add a few here and a link once they're done.

I can't believe that a povo spec mk 3 won the Watercooled to 1997 Category (again) especially over that Corrado!!!! Disappointing. I'm surprised you didn't hear the cursing from the remaining VWW members who were still there from where you & Ray were presenting. :|

Congrats to BALKANAC on winning the Watercooled 1998+ Category, and I was lucky enough to win the Watercooled Performance Category. 12 hours of prep paid off!

Great day otherwise, I think we had 11 cars at the Leederville pre-meet which exceeds any recent gathering and there were plenty more Watercooled models at the show. The venue wasn't as crowded as it could have been although we were all parked up closer than previous years, considering there was less space and given the turnout I think it actually worked pretty well!

I was amazed at the amount of VW's there today was good to see.

                  Thanks again.

Had a great day, excellent turn out and it's always good to see some of the more "historic" VW hardware of the past. Especially those Karmann's, wow!

I wish more watercooled cars showed up, but I guess that kind of outcome rests on websites like this to drum up modern vw owners to attend.

                    FEEDBACK:
Well I'm kinda buggered right now but this is what I can think of...
The smaller park worked better. Everything was more packed in.
More watercooled categories would be welcome.
                    WHERE WAS MR BRATWURST MAN??
Both food outlets ran out of water by about 1pm. Thats a bit silly on a hot summers day.
My car wasn't judged, despite having the paper work under the wiper for a good few hours.
I'm not a massive fan of having a car number sticker plastered on my window without asking, but at least it was easy to peel off.

All in all, great day! No pix from me, but goeff gti took a heap and he'll post em soon i hope.

                      +1 for Andy's Bratwurst!!!!!!!!!!

I understand the sausage sizzle is another way of club fundraising, and paying for outside vendors costs money, but with the turnout today I'm sure the club would have still been ahead.
I had also mentioned there is a Boost Juice mobile van around Perth somewhere - a VW Transporter no less, would have been good to get them on board as well since it was nice & hot.

Yep, it was good to meet a few new faces at Leederville too & a few who haven't been around for a while.
