By the time I get home from work it's 6:30, then changed etc. Wouldn't leave home until at least 7. You recon you could make it from the shire to Parra in 1/2 hr at 7 on a Tues night, I don't think so!!!!!!!!!!! Parra is central to western Sydney and that's about it.

I've got no problems with driving to anything (god I even drive to the shops when they're less than 500m from my house :p) but I'm not going to rush on a Tues night and probably still be at least an hour late.

I live in Brighton, which is like 15mins from the shire. I get home at 6:45 and get changed and get there at 7:45 it doesn't matter if your late 20 mins its not like we are going to say **** off your 15mins late go eat in the late corner

I can't see a problem with the locale sure I live 25 minutes away but that isn't the point, I wouldn't at the same time have a problem meeting up around Brighton or another area that's is "generally" in the "middle" of Sydney. But seriously mate you complaining about the layout of Sydney and the distances isn't contributing anything to this thread.

If its "to far" then don't go, not just sit here complaining about how long it takes for you to put your pants on and get to PJ's

But I do support Steve, its only a social GTG, we dont ask for complete punctuality and there is no bonus point for most attendances. We all have family/work/sports/other commitments so its just another reason to get out and chat in person as opposed to the keyboard and monitor.

What if we introduce lucky door prizes, poker tournaments or BINGO... maybe even a movie

I'm not saying have it in the shire. I'm well aware that it is not the easiest location to get to (and if your passport isn't up to date then you can't come over the bridge ) either but what I am saying is have it a bit closer to the CBD that way everyone has to do a bit of travelling.

We'd be having this same argument but reversed if we had this at Brighton or Rockdale and people from Penrith, Parra, The hills district etc complained about the distance.

What ever happened to the steakhouse at Strathfield (or somewhere around there). When the GTG was there it had a massive turnout.

I also think the time of week stops alot of people. if you had it on a Friday or Saturday then it would be easier for more people to commit.

Anyway do what you want. All I'm doing is offering an opinion which may help increase the turnout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Homebush is considered the geographical centre of Sydney these days, and given the number of people who live out west these days, it's pretty central to the population as well. Given that Parramatta is only about 10 minutes down the motorway from Homebush, I think Parramatta is a reasonable spot.

Yes, I realise I live 10 minutes from Parramatta, but that doesn't invalidate my point.

If there's sufficient people over on the eastern side of Sydney, or in any particular area of Sydney, there's be nothing to stop anyone having a separate GTG in that area.

For what it's worth, I know for a fact I can get to/from Menai (just behind the bus depot/police dog training grounds) and my place near Parramatta in about 30 minutes at around that time of night....

theres a meet/gtg on the 27th .. so there isnt any excuse you cant make it as its not close to anybody and its a time that everyone can make it.

There GTG everywhere if anyone attends its a miracle, the sydney scene sorry to say is pathetic! I'd move down to mexico for the GTG and roads but apart from that I couldn't handle there fantastic weather they have
