Would be nicer if it was a little more central for everyone. Parra's a bit far (esp in peak hour traffic) to get to from the other side of town.
      Cheers,

I think I can speak for the usual suspects that where there last night...

People can nominate other specific/central locations but there needs to be enough people attending on a regular basis to support this.

Granted this is only meeting No. 2, but I feel Lora has made a good effort at 'rounding up the troops' and organising the locations based on feedback provided.

Agree for these things to work we need to have a decent amount of people.

If you think about it its really not peak hour traffic cause its at 7:30 so there is plenty of time for traffic conditions to die down which they do. I come from down south and to Parra its not that long at all only 25mins and its hardly any traffic so petrol consumption is even better.

I also think that last nights dinner was ok yet NOT! Definately not going to Canterbury Leagues again the food was not all that crash hot really.

But the main thing is that we had some good laughs!

Just reiterating above - canterbury leagues wasn't that crash hot at all.. Thankfully there was good company to make it an enjoyable evening.

To put it simply, for this to work there needs to be a commitment from everyone. In the grand scheme of things its only once a month and therefore plenty of time to plan ahead.

I totally understand that from time to time there will be extenuating circumstances that prevent people from attending, and that is sometimes unavoidable and but what can you do, it happens! A simple post or PM on the forums saying "Hey cant make it tonight, family/work commitments" so i can make the appropriate alterations to the booking makes life alot easier and is greatly appreciated

Myself and the others who have been present at the last two dinners feel that Parramatta was a central enough for everyone. A half hour drive once a month doesnt hurt. One particular melbourne member travels over an hour if not more to go to the monthly meets.

I personally felt that PJs was and is a good venue for our monthly dinner meets. The food there is excellent, they are able to fit us all on one big table and in summer i think it will be a fantastic venue!

Unfortunately, there will be members who will not attend due to the travelling difficulties and constraints but if we keep chopping and changing places there will be no continuity and it wont be as successful as it could be. Looking at the cruise on Sunday, there was a large amount of members from all areas of Sydney and I know I don't speak for myself, but it'd be nice to see some new faces at these dinners. (LOL not that theres anything wrong with the company from last night 60c rolls )

Hope I didn't step on anyones toes by voicing my opinions but yeah thats how it's going to be!

Next meet is at PJs in Parramatta on 11th August @ 730pm

Homebush has a few nice resteraunts and is a little closer to the city.

I wish parra was a 1/2 hr drive for me but I would be coming from the shire so the trip would take a fair bit longer.

Also the Steakhouse dinner a couple of months ago seemed to have a pretty good turnout. Could be a place to consider again.
                Cheers,

                John

I'd be a little more inclined to come to something like this if it wasn't so far away. Para is a fair hike from here - much more than half an hour : )

I always thought The Ranch in Epping was pretty central, because its straight off the LCT for the southerners and also very close for the north/westerners. I haven't been there in ages, but from memory the food was ok & there is ample parking : )

Agreed. We're a car community damnit, so DRIVE! And PJ's in Parra is a nice venue. It's even got nice undercover parking right near it, so you can't even use lack of parking as an excuse.

YAY, you booked the next one on my birthday!!! Unfortunately I was planning to be in the snowies trying my hand at skiing that week though
I am definitely keen to make it to a meet now that I've met some of you though. I'll keep an eye on it and if the date changes I might be able to make it.

I don't think you've stood on anyones toes voicing your opinion. If anything, I gotta say good on ya for making the effort to organise it, and I hope it becomes a popular regular event.

In my opinion, when you start going towards more restaurant style "ala carte" venues it starts getting expensive. I find in a pub, its cheaper and when you find somewhere good, as we have why change it! the food was superb, i dont think anyone was unhappy with their meal. The portions were good and extremely decently priced... I also feel it has a more casual and laid back environment therefore making it easier to talk and get to know the newer members.

HAHAH someone who agrees! Yes we are a car community and i find it ironic at times but i do understand it will be a bit of a trip for some. But like i said before its a once a month commitment.

If we keep discussing and changing venues it will never work (this is coming from advice on another member who organises meets as i have been trying). Its not an easy thing to do in trying to please everyones ideas and suggestions, hence the reason why we voted last night after extensive discussion.

Again i apologise for people who feel they might be hard done by but the decision has been made

                          its all too hard.

who can make it make it, who cant dont come, dont complain. that easy.

                          lol

id say austrian schnitzel haus.. but there would be too many tightasses who wouldnt go. so how about we just go to a chinese take away place, everyone buy what you want and meet in a car park of a shopping centre with chairs and setup.. maybe that'd be easier for everyone because they can have a chair that's not to far, to heavy, unsuitable and perfect for their .......

                          LOL
