There is a new track south of Sydney at Marulan. Its tight, lots of run off, and according to redlinegti members - very fun.
I've made some enquiries into a track day. If we can get 20 people - which would be awesome, for a small group, together the prices would be for
track only/ track + instructor it would be
Weekday: $110/$140
Saturday: $155/$185
This price includes your license to MDTC for 1 year (if you have a CAMS 2C or above, then you don't need a license). You can use it at other club's days as well!
Doesn't sound too bad. its not wakefield, but is more interesting. Its a slower track, but a lot tighter, and reports are it keeps you working. And less chance of damage to the cars
A recent track day by Circuit Club meant they were clocking 90 laps in the day (at around 45-55 secs per lap).
Wakefield vs MDTC:
Slower, cheaper, harder (7 turns in 1km vs 10 turns in 2.2kms at wakefield).
By being a lot safer, it reduces the chance of coming off the track. Also, keeps you working through the corners, and you can try new things with the short lap times
So please let me know who'd be interested, and whether you'd prefer a purely track day or pay the extra $30 for an instructor for the day - but seeing as we'll have the whole track, it'll be up to us 'how much time' we spend with him/her.
I already have 2 firm people interested with Golf GTIs and myself so thats 3.

Redline's comments about the track
Just some other points... if we could get a weekday... then for $195 we could just have 10 people on the track... now THAT would be nice?
So please let me know if you'd be interested in a private weekday track session for about <$200!
Its <1.5 hours from Sydney!
So comment away... and let me know if you have any friends that would be interested... I'm pretty that the 4 hot hatch forums could fill this in quite quickly. (this is a SuzukiSwift.net day, but as always, we like seeing the Golfs and Polos at our cruises)
