Can someone who's taken their car on the track advise what are the pre-requisites to take your car on the track?
I would love to take my R36 for a spin if permits are easy to obtain?

hi, do a search in the polo section for track day or threads I've startedas there's quite a bit of useful information in there. It applies to all cars.
If your car is new and mechanically sound, just up your tyre pressure to 43-44 front and 40-42 rear (each to their own to exact pressure, but no less) and check all your fluids are clean and full. That's all I do, I still run stock everything (pads) and it's been fine for one at QR and one a lakeside so far. Stock brakes experienced no fade pulling up consistently from 180km/hr into the carousel at lakeside. (this is for a polo GTi)
Best to learn the car at QR, a lot more forgiving for mistakes than lakeside.

** All information I provide is probably incorrect until validated by someone else **

Jeff, how's track attack differ to the sprints? I see you guys start earlier.
I may be out there this weekend along with one or two other polo's, just waiting to see what the go is with the weather. Not going to run around there if it's in the 30's.

I don't think there is anything wrong with running your car out there if it's in the 30's. It's reasonably stock i believe isn't it?
Jay recently ran out there on like a 36 degree day with his charged 16v mk2 with no problems at all with water or oil temperatures. He had other issues but no fluid temp issues.
I ran many times on hot days as well, with no signifficant issues other than once experiencing a slight drop in power. I only get high oil temps, due to the constant 6k+ revs, but this happens on cold days as well. If you service your car often and use high quality synthetic oil, i can't see why you should have any problems at all.
Was also bearing in mindy that I'm running street tyres. Had a mate out there in his M3 a few weeks back on the 40deg day and he was saying his (street) tyres went off in two laps - though he drives like a mad man, no mercy.
Thanks for your input guys - good to know from real experience. In my sooby, I'd dodge the hot weather. Yup, my cars still stock as and looking likely to stay that way for a bit longer
Will see if a mate is going out in his clio or anyone else is heading out.
