Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Formula Euro Meet

Hey dubbers, long time no speak.
Buddy of mine Joe is starting up a car club called Formula Euro and is organizing a little get together on Sunday 1 March @ Brays Bay Reserve, Rhodes from 9:00 am. I know its a little short notice but if anyone is available to show of their car and meet some like minded people , you more than welcome to come along. Hope to see some of you there.

Wow, 2 views, 1 reply, thanks Mischa.

No interest, you poor sheltered beings. While I was in Germany, the slightest hint of a cruise was overwhelmed by confirmations with even more people showing up on the day with support and diversification, no two cars looked alike and people were friendly enough to converse and share their interest, European Motor Vehicles.

I guess our Aussie crowd is not as enthused as our fellow Europeans, maybe thats why they are so far ahead of us.

      keep well

            Insulting other members.

On his first post he invites us to an event with no warning and very little detail.

On his very next post he berates us for not fawning all over him and not turning up in droves.

He's not permanantly banned, he got a 5 point infraction for insulting members which results in a 24 hour ban.

Take a look how Wabit is organising an event by way of comparison. Lots of organisation, lots of consultation and he has also earned the respect of this community which gives him a lot of credibility. Wabit has engaged with the moderation team and members in a polite and professional manner and I'm sure we'll see the reports of a very successful event soon.

If you want a Euro Scene in Australia, Dom's going about it the right way.

You can't just spend 5 minutes on the internet spamming a few forums and expect euro-fest 2009 to materialise out of thin air the very next day. It's hard work and requires a lot of planning and organisation.

Now I wish Ben all the very best with his club and future events it's not an easy thing to kick off a new club and it's great that he's trying to promote his event, but we're not going to tolerate people who attack our membership on their second post.

If the second post had of come back with some more detail of the event or polite questions about how he could make the event more appealing to our members then all would have been good.

Maybe I'm being harsh but there's plenty of examples of first time posters just popping in here to pick a fight on follow up posts. I put a stop to this one early.

The event info is still up there if anyone wishes to go, it might turn out to be a great event, by all means check it out if you can. I just didn't think we needed to hear any more about how VWWatercooled doesn't support the euro-scene or participate in events where in fact quite the opposite is true.

I'll leave the thread open for event reports and photos, if you've got issues or questions regarding the moderation of this thread please use the PM system or discuss general moderation ideas in the 'forum suggestions" thread.

Peter, first time post long time browser/lurker.

I have been in the VW scene for a long time with both Watercooled and aircooled cars, and the rest most European.

I did not post to Spam the forums or to create problems for the members of the forum, for your information it was an invite to a get together of a crowd of people with common interests in order to meet, cruise and maybe chat about the possibility of Starting a European Vehicle Club in the near future.
As you may know, its better to do some research before making a large step in forming a club containing a wide range of vehicles and appealing to a broad, discerning level of Driver while also costing money and a lot of time and effort.

I also did not post in order to seek favor or attention by flattery and obsequious behavior and I certainly did not expect the materialization of euro-fest 2009.

I put up the post as a last minute idea and wrongly assumed that since there was a get together on Friday, some people may discuss the meet over dinner and possibly show up on Sunday.

Peter, you are also not familiar with Joe's plans for Formula Euro, so please don't imply indirectly that we are not doing it right, as for Dom could you please either pass my details on to him or send me his details as we may be able to help each other out and combine some ideas.

Like I said before, i am not on the forum to start shallow arguments and it also doesn't mean that since I have 2 posts that I am not entitled to my opinion.

              kind regards
