Can anyone tell me if they've heard of a Golf or GTI drivers club in Queensland? I've searched the net and there does not seem to be a dedicated drivers club. I take delivery on the 23rd Sept of my GTI and would be interested in "club cruises" about south east Queensland.
I find it amazing if there is not a club for Golf and GTI drivers.......I may need to start one. You seem to have a great VW community in Vic and Tas and I hope to find similar minded folk up here. I'm in Toowoomba which is just over an hour west of Brisbane on the Great Dividing Range. Thanks.

    VW clubs

VW clubs abound, however clubs for owners of specific models don't. Our forum is made up largely of Golf owners and there has been talk of making it a club, however geographical separation makes it impossible for get togethers for the whole membership.

        Queensland Golf and Jetta Drive

Can I get an expression if interest from owners in the South East of Queensland (or willing to come) who would like to collectively organize a drive day. We'd meet at a yet to be chosen location (McDonalds carpark) and do a 1-2 hour drive through some great countryside, have lunch somewhere, talk all things Golf, GTI and Jetta and then part ways (eventually) as we head our own ways home. I'll keep a list of those who express interest and then keep you informed as plans come together.

Golf's Mk1 to Mk5 are welcome. GTI is my particular interest though.

Jetta's and Polo's are also most welcome.

maybe there are too many cars from VW!!
I personally perfer a VW club which have all ranges of VWs, I perfer just a club for any VWs, my interest is on every single VW vehicles, I would perfer watercooled VWs as they provides larger range of performance, however I still love an aircooled, especially a T3. Watercooled I love the Golf most, but who knows one day I may perfer a Jetta! or Passat!

Thats a great idea Dr Spine. It would be good to see a gathering of the watercoolers off the forum up there. Come on guys, lets see this happen!
In november, by the way there should be another GTI day, to be held at Queensland Raceway. I will let you know when. An event not to be missed by MK5 GTI owners. I will be flying up for that one and will have some sort of late VW/Audi to drive.

              qld cruise

you can put me down for that
i live about 30km's south of the qld border, so the sydney cruises are not an option for me
but with less that 1.5 hours to brisbane thats a goer, thats if you don't mind southern ers coming up for the day

There definitely are some nice roads in northern NSW. Terribly intollerant police though and is a bit far for a day cruise for folks living about Brisbane / Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba. Don't know if anyone would be driving too safely after a cookie from Nimbin though

i drive a standard 1991 aus gti in the same glorious tornado red as your mk5
it could be a tornado red convoy

there are some really good roads around here but there are also some very tradgic tracks as well, that you would not want to take a good car onto, but you can still have a good & challenging drive without breaking the speed limit as most of them use the open to 100kmph speed limits
once you get off the pacific hwy you very rarley see the cops, unless they are doing random checks around nimby town, as you often get on the weekends
i think nimbin has lost it's touch a bit these days, but their sunday markets are definitly worth a look
i understand it's a long way from the sunshine coast though

Hi guys I'm up at the sunshine coast. You can coun't me in for a drive day any time. It will be interesting to see how many vw's are around. There seems to be getting more and more up here every time you go for a drive.

A Golf meet in SEQ sounds good to me!

Hey all golfers in the big pineapple,
i think a meeting and a medium length drive would be cool somewhere in SEQ. I'm on the northside of Brisbane, about 35 km from the centre of the CBD.

sounds good as long as she aint too far north for me lol

on another note, i often think its ridiculous that brisbane is still in SEQ,
but thats just prolly because im pretty close to the border,
so its more like FAR-SEQ haha.. aaaanyway..
im keen for a cruis. but on another note, whens SEQ4 comin up? october?
might check the thread, seems to have died off a lil
its probably going too far north for me anyway tho lol
                            cyas!
