I took my car out for a tuning day last year. It was a week day. I went with some friends (mixed groups of cars) anything from WRX's to 911 GT3's. It was good fun, but the AHG track is pretty short and very very hard on brakes and tyres. There is only one spot where you can get some speed up, and that is on the main straight as you take off for your lap, other than that's you're in second gear for most of it until the back straight. By the time you hit the braking zone before coming back in you'll be doing around 120-130 i think. (well, in my car anyway)

The contis are due to be replaced soon - A good way to speed up the inevitable.

Oh yeah, and you also need a helmet - that probably goes without saying. Oh and track days void your warranty - so if your EPC light comes on, I'd tow your car onto the road away from the track, then call VW assist.

VW / SKoda often run track days for people who have just bought their cars. Do reckon they would just leave you high & dry and tell you you're on your own pal, or save face and give you a hand to push it out onto the street?

Tuning is a winner (for me). Attended the same session as Tinto last year (and mrx, and POH)....I found that I was getting "tired" towards the end of the session, and was happy to forgo my "turn", and =1 for being hard on brakes.

VWOP are going to organise a session at AHG soon for GTI's and .:R's. I'll keep you all posted.

My work is incredibly anal about annual leave, so I need to give them 2 weeks notice, depending on what day it is.

How long is everyone planning to be out there? Last time I did it, we had the track from 2-5pm. Which was plenty of time.

                    Cheers
