Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

the BBQ's over the weekend always resulted in bags of laughter and smiles, I dont think i've laughed so hard in my life as i did today. Had a bad week leading up to it but the spirits have lifted again
laughter + beer + BBQ + good company = the best kind of theropy
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life

That's a track car and it belongs to waterboy's Dad, Bruce.

I'm sure he'll tell you all about it

              Wow. Epic Weekend.
Thanks to everyone who ferried me around, particularly Wabbit and Sean, and the Hawk for his homy save on the morning of the show.

I had 3 hours sleep all weekend and copious alcohol. I was that drunk bloke that everyone hates on the plane!

Great to put some faces to names and check out the Melbourne dubs. You have some sweet cars down there. The 2 door Jetta was awesome.

Had a chat with the organizers and they are keen for more watercooled involvement and if any of you victorians are able to join the club and push the watercooled agenda, thay are happy to relinquish judging the watercooled. That way there would be more knowledgeable judges!

I had a great time, I love VIC and you blokes were the best. See you all at the nats or next years DOVW.

I had a good weekend in Melb. I know I didn't speak to many folk at the show but the turnout looked good.

                Cheers

The judges baged my car aswell, like they know anything about anything.

*BIG RETARD FACE* (Stu you know the one )

Im sorry i didnt get a chance to get to know the rest of you.

For anyone who cares, dads car (the red 3door with the roof racks) stoped a total of 6 times, only once on the way back.
Mate the judging was an improvment on lastyear for sure! The car that won Standard Mk1-Mk2 deserved it as its a very clean example and no its not a real GTI but just has a GTI spec donk. Enough of the whinning.

BTW Spyda you ol man is a legend and he rocks VW's just as hard as we all do

I enjoyed ogling over the charged 4-mo. Spoke to the owner but didn't get to speak to her husband who actually did the handy-work. Is he on here ?

But gee charging the 4mo is a bit of money for 100 HP gain 1/3rd of the power not really worth it though I would like to do it one day !

I also liked the look of the rear valance being silver. Might get that done.

Will post some pics soonish !

Cause a mk1 5dr with all the gti gear in it & on it is standard?

Looking at the pic's it's got more mod's done to it than Dom's mk1!!!!

The bloke that should have got it was probably the bloke from down my way with the absolutely stock & mint beige 5dr, although I think it may have a 5spd fitted.
Even the chrome strip's on the bumper bar's is still mint!

I know the car & it's a knock out, just like Dom's. It's also a true everyday car too!

                              5th from the right.
