Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New GTI day in Melbourne

On the 20th of August there is a Murcotts drive day being held at Sandown Raceway. VW melbourne dealers are organising it and I have been invited to bring my APRd GTI over for it. I am not sure if they are allowing people in to check it out but it should be the largest gathering of Mk5 GTIs and Polos ever held in Oz. The numbers are limited to 50 cars and it is a day for Murcotts driving school to teach people just what their vehicle driving aids will do.
I will be boating across on the friday night so maybe we can have some sort of get together while I am there. Might be a hectic weekend, not sure what else is going on that weekend. I think I have to go to Volkspower on the Saturday arvo.
Be good to see some of you guys at some stage over the weekend though.
Boat gets in around 8.30 am I think. Cheers, Andrew

I wonder if they'd allow the iconic old ones in for a bit of a comparo, shame my car is in bits at the moment, but would still be great to see it.

For sure Golfman! There is talk of a barbecue at Volks on the Saturday arvo. Love to catch up and put a face to the name! Half thinking of getting the thursday night boat. I have to catch up with a couple of my suppliers over there but I can probably do that on the Monday.
Put the nice weather on for me, can you?

                Black GTI

I wonder if the owner of the GTI for sale on Carsales will be there? That'll test real enthusiasm

Great to hear about the event. Shame we cant join in but I think and hope we can maybe watch from the bridge if its interesting enough. Should be able to see the whole racetrack.

My cars in bits now too. Prepping it for the G60 finally. I still havent found the courage for the exhaust clamps. Everything else is nearly ready to pull out.
                      Cheers.

To get into Sandown on the sunday, go through the instuctional training, lunch and rides in thee demo cars costs $95. For that you can't participate in the events. You must ring Murcotts though to book or enquire ASAP
By the way, there is a barbecue at Volkspower at 2pm on saturday arvo for their customers and APR people. Bound to be a lot of new GTIs there including Polos. Be worth a look if you are interested. Might pay to ring them first too. Cheers

What time do you reckon you'll be @ Volkspower on Sat. Andrew?
I've got to go out to GasResearch in Dandenong late morning & I'll stop by on the way back.
