Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW [SYD] Blue Mountains Cruise - Saturday November 29th 2008

    Hello all

On behalf of SwiftSport.net (I'm a mod), I'm organising a hot hatch cruise through the Blue Mountains, and would like to extend the invitation to all you guys. I know we see each other's cars on the road and always wonder what they're like (the choice for me was between a Swift Sport, XR4, and Polo GTi)

Hence I'm organising a cruise through the Blue Mountains for all hot hatches (although there will be 1 standard Swift as well). So far, participants coming are from the two XR4 forums, Swift Sports (with one coming from Albury, and another driving down from Byron Bay) and the RalliArt Colts.

The cruise will be from Parramatta, through Richmond, along the Bells Line of Road to an open area about 50kms from Richmond to relax and chat and have a look at 'the competition', and continue on to Blackheath (or Mt Victoria, depending on group size) for pub lunch, and return via Great Western Hwy to M4 (or Hawkesbury Road through Grosewold Valley for those wanting a challenge on the way home)

    DATE: 29th November 2008

    Parramatta Pools car park
    Meet: 8:45am
    Leave: 9:00am

Richmond RAAF Base - Information centre on Richmond Road
    Meet: 9:45am
    Leave 10:00am

If you have any Q's, have a read of the FAQ on the website or feel free to email me on konazz@swiftsport.net and I hope to see you all there.

As always, if you are coming along, please respect others and the applicable road rules

C'mon Pierre, like this guy says, I know you've always wondered what a Swift goes like.

Yeah, i had one for 3 days in QLD over long weekend from work. Great on fuel $50 full tank 480-550km!, overtaking on freeway isn't its selling point! Its more of a hairdressers car then my Golf! lol

Yeah... I can't stand a chance with the Golf and Polo's...

But remember, we're N/A, most of you guys are boosting... we'll discuss this again when I get my Suzuki Supercharger in LOL! (and we're getting around the 6litre/100km mark, 8l/100km in the city!)

There's actually a fully turboed swift coming, with 5 point race harness seats, larger engine i think, and ridiculous amounts of boost!

Its not about racing, more just a relaxing cruise and enjoying the day (and also a chance to test out my CAI).

Most of the Swifts coming are stock, but I've just added a few XR4s, and a Mini Cooper S (possibility) coming along.

If you're interested, check out the website, and add your name to the excel spreadsheet i've posted up!

            See you there!

            * Just checked the listing, good to see one of your Golf GT's are coming!

There's going to be slight route change...

The route will be via Parramatta Road to church street... THEN M4, then onto The Northern Road, as I've had people mention they don't own e-tags - hence no M7... should only be about 15 minutes longer to North Richmond!

Guys due to a Major Event there on the 29th there will be road closures around the novotel, stadium and railway area, and pretty much no on street parking around that area.

A cruise for hair dressers cars only? Bugger. Counts me out.. This cruise location would have been ideal for me..

I think the carpark outside the showgrounds (p6f????? I think) will still be opened, short walk to the Novotel or other food places that have popped up there

I've been looking at SOPA website, can't find any events on the 29th! Are you sure?

Maybe P5 near Holker (near the bmx track) might be a better option then?

                            I'd prefer Novotel though...
