  • Oktoberfest - Sunday 5/10/08 - Static Display

    Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know that I'm organising the annual show-up of Dubs at the Oktoberfest again this year which is held at the Hubertus Country Club on the Sunday of the October long weekend. (205 Adams Rd Luddenham). Gate open at about 10:00. Keep an eye out for a VW Parking sign to the premium parking.

Free entry and for those who want to stay the weekend, there is plenty of room to set up a camper (or tent) with power and toilet facilities if you want to get into the German beer early. (They have local as well).

I've been the last few years and it's been a great family atmosphere with rides for the kids, competitions. Last year they had a beer drinking competition and in previous years a strong arm comp.

Click HERE for a google map of the place and how to get there.

Of you can try THIS map if it's easier.

Also below is another map showing where we've been positioned in the previous years.

                  This is tomorrow people.

Was glorious last year dubs, parked in the sunshine, lots of pretty german maidens and lots of beer and barbequed meat.

Music and dancing, and market stalls and kids rides.

Not gonna be as hot tomorrow, but no rain, should be perfect.

                  I`m gonna take my tribe

                  Anyone else coming??

I went today get a feel of the layout and this year they have moved the festivities to the side and the Auditorium. We'll be parking on the concrete where the marquis was last year. I'll try go get some signs up (At least the ground will be soft ) to guide you in just about where we came in last year (Just after the mini bridge) just keep an eye out on the right after the dam for the signs..

A couple of guys went skinny dipping today LOL the crowed was pleased, but the management wasn't. The people form the Firebrigade stole their clothes and hosed them down as they swam over to the island in the middle.

Plenty for the kids and the weather held out just nicely.

                      See you there tomorrow.

I'll try to reserve a table inside the auditorium...

Hope I dont see any guys skinnydipping.

But there will be steins of beer and wild boar on a spit galore. And some dubs

                          Report

                          Hi All,
the wether looked threatening and at about 2am I got woken up by a single thunderous BANG and that was it. It rained through the early hours of the day, but as soon as we got there it stayed dry for the day.

It was busier on the Sunday than it was Saturday. We had reserved parking right in front of the club (We even had a Mazda infiltrate our zone) while others had to walk from the front gate.

I personally preferred the setup last year where we could set up camp and still be within 100m of the atmosphere, food, beer, etc. This time I reserved 2 tables inside for us all, but had to let one go due to the lack of numbers. I talked with the management and have some more discussions for next year.

I thought that it was a great weekend, beer was cold, food great and the atmosphere was warm. The DJ this year did a great job and got people off their seats onto the dance floor. Both he and the band played traditional German music and some english songs, but the DJ played more music to dance to..
