  • 3rd Annual VW Watercooled Maroondah dam BBQ Discussion

    Hey guys.

I wanna start planning for "3rd Annual Maroondah Dam BBQ" !
All the guys that have attended in the past couple of years would know its usually a great social event mixed with a bit of a nice drive as well. (even if it rains on us agaaaaain)

Just wanted to know if there will be similar interest if we do it again one sunday this year?

My concern is that DOVW is on the 16th of November this year so i guess its best to avoid that time. December is probably out as well for me too.
Perhaps a date in october might work?

Anyways just throwing it out there. gimme your thoughts!

            ok boys.
After having a chat to a couple guys over dinner last monday we reckon it might be fun to do something a little different.
            Im after your thoughts.

Would u prefer lunch and then a bit of a cruise or would u prefer to do something like a navigation run type thing.

Basically the way it works is meet up in the morning at albert park. usual meet point. Everyone is given a sheet with a series of locations and tasks to perform along the way. whether that be take note of something in a particular place or collect something or whatever we can think of. Would work best if you had a co-pilot in the car as well. So maybe fun to bring along partners or a friend?

We would set a time limit to meet up at maroondah dam where we can swap tales and tally up a score of some sort perhaps and enjoy a BBQ.
For anyone keen there could always be a spur run afterwards.

But yeah just throwing it out there as something different to do. I didnt do a great job of explaining it but yeah. something to that effect.

Im happy for the idea to evolve or be canned. But please feel free to share your thoughts.

Yeah i really love the idea of the challange where the fastest person wont win.

Get photo's with a certain object and say how many things there are somewhere etc.

I hope i have my P's by then

that's the basic idea James. Ideal to get a team together and have some fun, while it not being about being the quickest, also might be a trophy in it for the winners! It's meant to be a nice family friend activity, so friends/partners and family are encouraged to come

is there any interest (from the sydneys guys esp) to do this on the saturday of the DOVW weekend?

                OR

Do we steer away from the DOVW??

In regards to the saturday idea. Are people going to be comfy with that? Or are they all gonna try and pike cos theyre preparing their cars for DOVW? Not trying to kill the idea. Just that was a point that was raised around the nats for some people

Well I think that ideally, We'll only be a bit over half a day, so we'd be done by about 2pm for those who want to go and clean thier cars.

People can also clean there cars on friday, and go in someones else car on saturday so they don't get thier polish messy...
