Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey guys,

This is being broken in Hobart. Looked at it in the auction yard but couldn't afford to buy it.

2003 Volkswagen Golf IV GTI for wrecking | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Hobart City - Hobart CBD | 1105093496

    Its got;

    - full genuine VW sports kit on it including front chin spoiler (may e damaged), rear spoiler and side skirts, original receipt in the glove box.
    - Smoothed rear boot lid, very good finish and condition.
    - Coilovers, look like decent ones.
    - Sports leather interior
    - No idea if the engine is any good but it has the service books in the glove box that looked to be up to date. Proper VW coolant in the expansion bottle which is always a good sign.
    - Looks to have wheel spacers on it. Decent rubber as well.

I have NO connection with the person wrecking it, the advert is crap so you may get a bargain as it appears he has no idea what he's got!

    Happy hunting!

always been serviced by a vw specialist

Haha, thought they looked like KW V1's. Is the motor an AGU? if so they're really sort after back in the UK for engine conversions, having larger inlet ports and a throttle cable rather than DBW, though I guess things may be different in oz.

It was a really good buy, I actually went to the auction wanting to buy it myself. Just couldn't afford the auction starting price! Sorry for implying you don't know what you've got you obviously do!

All good its not my ad, I just know the guy. The car was my sisters before she wrote it off. Yes an AGU engine. A neat car before she had the accident.

Cool, your mate shouldn't struggle selling parts. There's a V6 4 motion in next months Manheim auction, nothing particularly interesting on it though.

Are there any VW meets in Tas?

I've got a Bora V6 4motion. I've had a couple of mk4's in the past and my mate back in the UK has a couple of really nice mk4 projects on the go.

It has a blown motor but they never release that info so someone will get sucked in until they get it home.
