Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Gents, these almost never ever come up and are rare as hell.

    Genuine Golf 1600 F2 engine. These things rev out to 9000 and produce 190 hp....from a 1.6L

Someone on here must need something a little different in their golf/passat/seat/rocco

Someone buy this before i have to please

Ed tells me they produced the hp and lasted 2 race meetings max then blew apart.Didn't like 9000 revs much.
Modern builds are more reliable using modern components.
Put it in a berg mk1.

Yes Stanton these of course are highly stressed race motors and won't last long if you like 9000 rpm but would be fine for a good track day car limited to 7000 and given lots of TLC. This thread was meant to be for someone who races not a street car option.

Problem with modern builds is they haven't been homologated so you can't show up to an FIA or CAMS sanctioned race meet with a 1.8t bolted in but if your building a hillclimber this engine would sound awesome
