I've contacted the owner and I might go look at it on Sunday although the auction ends Saturday so I guess it depends on whether it sells or not.

so is it 99,000 kms or 399,000 kms? don't the speedos over clock when they get to 300,000 back to 0?

All mk3's reset after 299,999 and the 'total' disappears. Realistically though any mk3 could have had a cluster change so the engine is on something different to what it reads.
