Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

16" Volkswagen Polo GTi Wheels (PCD 5x100)

These are in good condition. They do not have any major gutter rash. Only a few minor stone chips.
The tyres that are on two of the wheels are not in roadworthy condition. May be alright as a spare but not much else

    Pickup from Berwick (Melbourne).
    Thanks.

How come? They're 16" just like my wheels and have the same 5 bolts as mine.

With that logic, please, buy them

I'd much rather read the correct logic first.

they might be the same diameter, and have 5 bolts as well, but that doesnt mean that they will fit. the reason for this, is because the diameter of the circle that is formed by your five bolts, is 112mm. you have five bolts, hence your stud (bolt) pattern is 5x112mm.

the polo gti whose wheels are in question, has a pcd of 5x100mm. therefore, they will not fit.

pcd is very important to take into consideration when buying wheels - for example, just because a holden hsv thing has nice looking 19 inch wheels with 5 studs, it does not mean that those wheels will simply bolt onto your hubs - because the pcd will be different.
