That Mk2 looks like one that was kicking around a few weeks ago for $2500
It had a decent size dent in the driver's door.....this one looks like it has had it's drivers door replaced...the colour doesn't match

I think its a different one because that was an Auto and I believe Rax bought that car.

Yup I bought the auto off of Gumtree Its nowhere near where i'd want it to be but since buying it i've gone a fair way to making it more reliable for a start. The drivers door was fine the dent was in the area bellow the hatch and the drivers side headlamp was broken, Inside was a treat though. plus I have heaps of spares and new bit arriving all the time

Yeah a real pity but there are a few over east that make a trip to Sydney or Vic quite attractive, for that kind of money I could have a holiday at the same time . Would really like a nice mint MK2 and I don't mind buying another one but the price would have to right for whats on offer.

Hard to find a mint one in WA for a reasonable price. So I guess instead of paying top dollar, pay less for a rough one and spend the money on restoration.

True enough. Speaking of restos you guys know any good panel shops around Perth that you can reccomend for a respray and some panel repair and alignment?

king st panal and paint !!! in bayswater corner of beechboro and king st... the guy quoted me $2000 to respray my mk1 have not been back in touch with him , but try him out . all depends on what you want oh and back to the top i would never pay $5000+ for a mk2 gti a few years back i could have bought a black 2 door uk spec import in fremantle for $4000 with paper work and full import papers ect....if i knew where that was now , i would jump on it a put my 16v in her !!!! i know its lurking somewhere

Just an interesting bit of info, I checked out redbook for MK2 prices yesterday $1500-$3500 for a 1991 GTi manual 8V.

that was for a full paint work including sand down ect..... the dude likes golf mk1/2s i had his card but lost it ,just take a drive down king st , its number 1 .....
