Most of the sheared Rota pics you'll see on the net are of race cars or ones that have been tracked. If you're just using them for street use, I honestly can't see anything like this ever happening, but if they're going to use any replica rims for racing, then I think they get what they deserve.

All wheels will get damaged under extreme abuse there is no doubt about that.
High end light weight wheels are not particularly strong. Just look at all the people that have had damaged OZ wheels.
I think the difference seems to be a good quality wheel will bend or crack instead of snapping like these things seem to.
