  • Vehicles 09 Scirocco in Sydney

Sorry if this is a re-post, haven't been on here much recently. I am aware that it looks like VW will be bringing them in and someone has RAWS approval, but i was surprised to this on carsales

by a quick look at the ad, I'm not 100% convinced.

Either it's not in the country yet, or it's not engineered/approved. Some of the language, suggests hidden details to me atleast!

Or maybe just not registered if it is in Australia, i've been trying to look for tell-tale signs in the background! In the rear end shot, is that a Falcon in the background? And that One Way sign, Australian or English?! I'm can't remember which one looks like what!!

Oh of course!! Good detective work! Would make more sense to ship them from there, speedo would be in kms too...

The car is being sold by the International Motor Group on Parramatta Rd, Lidcombe if anyone wants to find out for sure!!

Those pics are definitely taken in Australia, in my neck of the woods. Location is the bottom of Hill Road at the intersection with Bennelong Parkway (formerly Bennelong Road) at the area that used to be the old brickies (illegal dragstrip) way back when.

The apartments in the background are part of the residential complex known as The Waterfront and the open grassland is a section of Sydney Olympic Park known as Woo-la-ra.

              Thanks for comfirming!

I wonder why the language in the ad is so odd still?? (too me atleast)

And why doesn't it have rego plates? Or list VIN numbers etc..?

              hmmmm

Oh that's interesting then... Thanks VW Convert!

I didn't think the language was odd Jarred, how do you mean odd?

I'm guessing it's just not registered because it could sell interstate, but no VIN is strange.

There's a thread somewhere on vwgolf.net.au about a couple of Scirocco's being imported in from NZ....
                  Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
                  Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

I think the tense that's used is just confusing. Well to me atleast. (then again maybe I was just being daft last night :s)

Main problem with the ad, is the price. "from $...." That's something that a VW dealer would say... Just odd, to me atleast.

It must be in Oz... I think that's a BA XR Falcon behind it in this shot.

I've seen a Scirocco too (but it's a certain black one as featured in a magazine's Tuner Challenge. ).

The key question is whether this particular car is registered and if so, whether it is a private import or is a complianced car from a workshop which has received RAWS certification.

Is this specific car currently registered or is, as has been mentioned above, this just someone spruiking for future business - in the hope that the seller will able to get their cars complianced to allow registration?

This particular car was imported from Japan hence the reason why it is RHD and has metric speedo readings.
I've seen the pics it while it was still in Japan on the importer's website.
