p.s. Peter, look for the threaded hole up near where the hatch bolts up mate, mine was removed when i bought the car but the others i have all have them fitted and one has the manual with the adr supplement for child restraint.

Bidding looks strong on that, should go for a fair price.

I checked again this morning and there's definitely no sign of child restraints in mine (the headlining is out so it's easy to check. ) Both of my '79s have though, I can feel the threaded insert through the headliner.

I guess some just missed out , perhaps by oversight, perhaps by design? Mines a 1/77 if that makes any difference.

Early westy Rabbits were 1980 only...
CarSales car is a 77. Therefore either has hacked up core support or is a rounds car originally.

The head lights are Rieger, not original VW.


My 78 GLS has no child restraint. My 78 GLS and 79 GLI UK import have the wipers on the same side. All the US pics above have the wipers on the other side.

SO just because it has a Rieger grill and lights that makes it a US import....despite the simple fact that you can buy the same crappy GLS here.
