Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It's probably fixable, but insurance companies tend to write modified cars off more easily due to the difficulty and cost in sourcing replacement parts.
I remember the only reason they wrote my Commodore off was due to the colour, because of the cost of the paint to spray the replacement panels. If it was white, it wouldn't have gone over their 'budget'.
Anyways, shame about the Golf. Always been a fan of it. Hope someone on here grabs it, and fixes it.'07 Transporter 1.9 TDI

The Story,
I sold the car to a good friend of mine Vince as some of you know to who i think loved the car IF not more then i did (actually no... definitely did haha).
Unfortunately he was driving home through Lane Cove where he had to stop quickly where someone behind him even though a very large distance behind him cleaned him up at apparently over 70km/h according to witness'.
So he had every intention of having it repaired and making sure it was 100%, the car was quoted and sat at the panel shop for a while trying to see if he could repair it however unfortunately what was offered was to little to have it repaired at all. $15k+ damage, with extensive under car damage/rear.
He was hit so hard he pushed into 2 cars and moved them forward over 50m+. Luckily he was ok was my main concern. Unfortunately the car took the brute of it and the car that hit him was a complete write of then and there at the scene!
Not much you can do! Had some awesome times and memories with the car and i loved it. But at the end of the day you have to remember its a car and to me my mate didnt get hurt and thats all i honestly cared about!
Car was not insured (from his part) when he purchased the car with all the mods that i had. So no the car was no 'stripped' like some may think!
He is now looking at purchasing something else in the near future.
Parts will be for sale from his MK4 (red and silver ones) and also from my from my old MK4. (minimal, by this i mean wheels). please do not req, or pm me for parts thanksWhat’s behind you doesn’t matter..
