Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Volkswagen Bora 2004 V6 4Motion - ELECTRICAL FAULT? - eBay, Passenger Vehicles, Cars, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 20-May-10 21:45:18 AEST)

Hate the colour, but superlow kms and looks to be tidy. I saw this on ebay a few weeks back, and it was pricey. Now, seems to be other issues.

This vehicle was a Repairable Writeoff & was sold from auction for around 7k in the beginning of the year. The engine was run without oil & that stuffed the crank. The dude bought the car from auction replaced the big ends & sump (but the crank also required a grind) so the dude thought he could get away without that, so he tried to sell before the new bearings wore out but he drove it to long, then the big end bearings wore out again, so he had no choice but to sell through ebay as having an electrical problem. (Unable to start on my property) this was said so no one could attempt to start, because if they did they would hear the big end knock. The battery was stuffed so (he brought a booster from autobahn). I don't understand why as a new battery would have been cheaper. This vehicle is now in Sydney with the engine out awaiting for a new one from VW $8k will be the cost. This will be the last time my mate buys a car through ebay interstate. Just to add the body is far from prefect as the antenna base was damaged & the roof is buckled. Front & rear bars major scrapes paint missing, Rear door needs replacing because of the damage, bonnet is bowed in the middle, scrap on sill & the back seat has a hole in the leather etc. & ebay is unable to help him.

Engine's have been around for 5 K but seriously buying a car that doesnt start off of EBAY is a no go unless your absolutely sure of what you are looking at.
