MK1 Golf (not ebay, private sale thats not mine)

Not mine, a car i saw for sale in Bairnsdale
details: dark dark green '78? MK1 golf (advertised as a '76MK2...) definatly a mk1 either way
didnt see the engine but is apparntly a 1600cc orginally but has something to do with the carby changed (forgot what he said exactly )
130,000km on the clock i think...
said it runs well, has been in the family a while.
Has abit of paint flaking on the back door and paint cracking on front bumper, little patchs of rust in odd spots. (would need some body work)
had a eye brow lip, bumpers werent the swallow ones, and had some 10cm? wide hella foggies fitted outside the body.
interior looked pretty clean through the window except for the boot (not sure what was going on in there)
had $3,000 ono offer on it. Will post up some pics later as im at work until 9.
anyone keen or have questions i can try and find out more.

body would need some serious loving, if not the very small patches of rust, alot of flaking and cracking of paint. ull see what i mean when i get pics up

yes, I reckon 3K is a joke too. would only be worth alot closer to $500-$1000 if it's straight, and pretty much rust free.

this car is a bit of a bucket. looks like a mk2 from the front!

mk1.5? you could buy a mk3 with p/s, a/c, airbags and rego for that much!

well...
its registered as a 76, build date is 12/77 and chassis date is something 78.
correct me if im wrong, they are normally single carby, where as this one has been swapped to a twin.

They originally came with a single throat carb, twin throat carbs (probably a weber or similar) are a cheap and rewarding upgrade for a 1.6

now your asking hard questions haha (i dont know a whole heap about engines). no idea sorry, got any pics of the difference and ill tell you what i think i saw
