I'm in Auckland at the moment and have seen a few cool VWs, a place called "Dubshack" (good for rare parts, prices are higher end) with 2 X Mk3 16V GTIs out the front and a few VRs and other GTIs, no Corrados as I missed the car show I was meant to be at. Seen both Golf and Bora wagons and a few W8 Passats, my mate was keen on one but got a contract back in Australia. Also 4 door Mk4 R32s seem to be more common here than the 2. Way too many VRs are Auto.

    Sorry for the thread hijack.
Importing a 16V Mk2 from NZ is something I want to do before I turn to dust, and despite being imported probably from UK or Japan anyway, NZ cars tend to have very little rust particularly the ones from Canterbury the air is dry like the humour.

Flights can be under $400 return if someone wanted to drive it first.

Problem is that its an '89, you would have to buy it, live in NZ for 1 year, apply for import approval, then get it over here. If it was pre '89 then you could import it without restriction.
