hey guys was just wondering with this car if i could seek some help as i dont know much about mk1s and it seems a few of you actually know this car.
How is the body of the car it looks a bit 'ratty' from the photos but i cant really tell is there any rust? and the issue with the engine how much would that be to repair thats if anyone knows to some extent whats wrong with it?
enough to not worry about scratching a paintjob and cool enough to have a heap of mk1 character.
check out the last photo on those ebay snaps, pure class.
providing its not made of rust it looks like a lot of fun, that bearing noise is probably a blessing in disguise as most mk1 owners wish they had an excuse to put a new engine in anyway
Well, a bearing needs replacing in the engine. so it practically needs a bottom end reco, and you could either do that, or just swap in a new engine. some people give away old 1.6's, or your could just upgrade at the same time.
from what i saw, this car is very structurally rust free. obviously i havn't bare metalled the car, but from looking around it, it looks structurally fine, even if there was a few spots of surface rust here and there
yeah thanks golfman and jarred im guessing you guys actually know the car
yes.... quite well
if your in Melb this weekend, we'll take you to see it so you can make your own judgement
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it
