  • Impul Wheels 5x100 17'

    Front: 17x8 OFFSET +31

    Rear: 17x9 OFFSET +38

These would look sweet on a Polo with stretched rubber if you could fit (?) the rear wheels under the guards.

Doubt they'd clear the brakes either tbh...

I've got the same wheels in 7.5" fronts and 8" rears. Mine are ET25 (front) and ET32 (rear) and I needed 5mm spacers on the front and 10mm spacers on the rears. The wheels above will not fit.

an 8" wide wheel with a ET30 will stick out about 5mm from the guards (bugger all)

the 9" will poke some, but hell, some of you Polo boys man up and get these

I can tell you right now I've got these wheels in 8" on the rears with a 22 offset (thanks to a necessary 10mm spacer), at they sit perfectly inline with the guards. So your 30 offset will definitely not poke.

With the normal 32 offset on my 8" rears, the inner edge of drivers side rear wheel was scrubbing the plastic that protects the fuel tank. This is why I bought the 10mm spacers. Can you imagine what a 9" rear with a 38 offset would do.

The 7.5" fronts with the standard 25 offset on mine were scoring the calipers. The back of the spokes are flat so they do not clear brakes very well. Now with the 5mm spacers (making them 20 offset), they just clear the brakes and still sit just inside the guards.

I tried the 8" wheels on the front of my car, and they hit the struts before getting anywhere near the hubs. You'd need some serious spacers to get them on. So with all this in mind, you'll need massive spacers to get the 9" wheels on the rear with that offset. Say goodbye to your wheel bearings.

Finally, keep in mind with these wheels the bolt holes are 12 mm, not VW's 14mm, and the hub is 55mm. Your local wheel guy will have to rectify this. Then think of the dollar you will have to spend on 10-20mm spacers for the front, 30mm spacers for the rear, and longer lugs all round.

This offset calculator might help you with your decisions - http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp

                Cheers,
                Rhys

i had Schmidt 16x8's on my Polo and they were outside the guards by about 5 mm.

Those wheels are still for sale and would look tops on any Polo

They do look tops on a Polo (see above photo). That's just my bias opinion!

mine cost around the 500 mark all up, worth it but you do have to factor it in + the fact that you will need new tyres due to the profile and what not
so thats another $800 depending on brand
