Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

On a VR6 you have to drop the engine mounts out just to change some of the most basic things, which the 1.8T/2.0L/T guys take for granted, hence my point.

They're all unnecessarily difficult and expensive to service because of the design, which isn't all to bright when you compare it to the FI motors. Its a massive compromise to have a few more horses stock for stock to have such a lower amount of reliability in the long run due to the heat in the engine bay and the difficulty in servicing due to the size/positioning of the motor in the bay.

And they're not all that fast either, my VR6 is only marginally slower than one as I found out not long ago. I'm honestly not trying to bag the car out, I just think that all the 6's are flawed, and the R32 just happens to be the most so

I'm just lucky my mate is a mechanic, otherwise I wouldn't be able to keep the car tbh.

If those km's were all city cycle, your chains would be incredibly noisy by now.
