Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    VIC WTB Mk4 GTI 02j gearbox

    As title states,

    if anyone has or knows of a gearbox for sale please let me know. Has to be from a mk4 GTI.



    And chasing some mk1/2 sliding roof bits. If anyone has anything stashed away, pretty please let me know as I have searched all over and cannot find anything. In particular part number 171 877 481 which is NLA with VW

        I have a key and a lock. However it is not for a mk1... inbox if interested

          Loads of MK1 tailgate locks, may be lucky and get one with a key.

          All the sunroof bits I gave away to Shane when he bought that Mk1 GTI over from Melbourne ( since gone underground that car but have an idea who has it ) you may need to get from an overseas wrecker.
          Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

          If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

            Hey Grant, Damn unlucky. I've looked high and low mate. None of the big retailers VWH/vwclassic/GAP etc have anything. Might have to take your advise and start enquiring O/S.

                Mk4 gti gearbox? Wouldnt anything 02j work? Eg V5 box too?

                    Ahh ofcourse! Learn something new �� I recently pulled a 02j from a 20v NA audi. Turns out the cups are different too!

                      Yep. There's 100mm and 108mm should all be bolt in. I did think however the only 100mm 02j cups were tdi ones.

                        Its the ratio I'm particularly after Longer gears for more torque if I'm not mistaken.

                        I had a 2.0 sport 02j gearbox, and the ratio's were really short!
