Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC WTB: 2000 VW Passat upper oil pan

    Hey Guys,

I may be in need of an upper oil pan + oil coolant housing for a crashed 2000 VW V6.
Basically the crash has ripped out the union tube and with it i believe the damaged the upper oil pan threads.

Should have the car tomorrow for a better look.

Anyone have a used one in ok condition laying around?

I am floating between Ballarat, Bendigo and Williamstown so have a fairly large range of pick up locations!

If it has a couple of threads will glue the union in place to test the engine still turns over and if it does will replace it.

    Thanks,
    Taffy

I'm wrecking an A4 B5 V6 which are generally the same parts. Do you have the part number of the part you need and I can cross reference it off mine.
      2019 132TSI Tiguan
      2011 Audi S4 Wagon
      1988 MK1 Caddy
      2006 Polo GTI

Thanks for the reply, will track down a part number and get back to you.
Yes the parts look the same from photos i can find.

        Cheers,
        Taffy

edit: Engine has been tested by using jb glue to hold the filter on long enough to get oil through the engine but required a bucket under it as it could not be sealed. Broke off again when trying to tighten to seal.

          Hey,
Looks like they are the same part:
          078, 103, 603AM, VW, Audi, 078103603AM, $96, VW, Upper, Oil, Pan, Passat, A4, A6, V6

          078103603AM Oil Pan

Not in a huge hurry as need to fully strip the car(limited shed space) in one go over a couple of days.
When you get a min, let me know how much and shipped to Vic, 3356 if possible.

          Thanks,
          Taffy
