Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Seats for my Mk1 (mk3 gti/recaro/???)

    Hey guys,

So I'm hoping to chase down some seats to go in to my mk1, something that'll grip me but isn't full race spec preferably.

I've heard that the mk3 gti seats are a straight swap into the mk1.

Let me know what you've got and I may just grab it off of you

    Cheers lads,
    Seamus/MK1DUB

I put mk3 vr6 seats in mine. Just have to cut the outer guide leg and weld in closer. Took about an hour to do both.
    Best seats

Apparently they would fit, considering badger just said he used them :p

        Mind sending me some pics @ 0428 183 212?

@Badger - I've never welded, what would this cost to get installed/can you recommend someone from the forum that would help me out?

I have some mk4 gti recaros in my mk1. but also had to cut and weld the outer leg. apart from that they fit very well and are amazing seats. So many options if you are willing to get things welded.

Mk2 gti seats are direct fit. But the welding is a simple job if you know someone that can do it. If you were in qld I'd do it for you
