Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan 125TSi - Hella Headlight

    To everyone,

I'm looking for a pair of Hella headlight to swap the factory ones of my Tiguan. It is basically the same as the stock but featured a black inside cover. Anyone have seen it for sale in NSW or anyone is using it and thinking of selling it? Thank you!

They are both made by Hella. I'm pretty sure team_v has a set of these in his Tig. They are also available from ECS but these would be for LHD vehicles (different beam pattern).

Hella also make the blackout tail lights and 3rd brake light if you're keen on changing your look.

If someone is selling their car they may return it to stock to sell it.... Or if they bought and had enough of the blackout look. I don't think there's many of these around so best of luck!

      Cheers tigger!

Got a question popped up! Does the Hella's allow the headlights to turn left/right as you drive along like the stock ones? I'm not sure if the "turning headlight" thing is an option or not, but I bought the car with the bi-xenon ticked, so now I'm running with blue lights and turning lights as I turn.

So since both the stock and Hella's are kind of the same, I'm thinking if I can just swap the covers and keep the internals stock, so that I get the good looks without ruining what I already had.

The blackout lights are a direct swap for the standard headlight and not bi-xenon that you have.

You could change but then you won't get the cornering or any of the other bi-xenon features. This will be a retrograde step in terms of lighting. Most people want to go the other way.

The two lights you have posted are identical as they come from the same manufacturer/mouldings - just a different colour plastic inside the housing.

          Thanks mate.

I just looked up the headlight from ecs and the shipping date for that is not until May, seems like its going to be a long wait. Also, thanks for your comments, I saw the blackout stoplight as well, think I might get that too. I'm not too keen on Hella's taillight tho, think I'll swap it to a 2nd gen tiguan-style taillight from eBay. But I'll see how I go.
