  • WA WTB Golf Mk1. (May consider interstate cars)

    Hello Dubbers

Looking to buy a Golf Mk1, not a cabriolet, minimal rust (none would be better though), petrol or diesel doesn't matter.

Must have rwc and running. Preferably in WA but may consider interstate , depending on the condition and price of the car .
My budget is $5000 , will consider spending a little more for the right car.

If you have any other old vw , pm me I might be interested.

    Cheers

    Ish

Have you tried searching on gumtree, carsales and eBay?
I seen a few mk1 golfs in reasonable condition around the 3.5k mark!

I sure do, just thought I would check on here to see if anyone is willing to sell theirs.

I'm in no rush though, will wait for the right one to come along

Hey mate, not sure if you've seen it but a 4dr GLD popped up for sale on gumtree last night, wanting 3k. Small amount of rust on it around the windscreen from the add, but, that's up to you. Personally though, if you don't mind interstate buying you might want to look for one elsewhere and get it shipped over. WA Mk1's have seemed to disappear from sale in the last year.

thanks guys, that is deffinetly a steal! looks like a fair bit of rust to fix tho , I know it rare to find with very minimal rust! plus I don't have the skill to fix it myself ....yet.

hah the mrs reaction was gold. looks like I'll keep looking. the one here in perth for 3k doesn't look bad either.

My other option for a car is an old beetle after seeing some hot bugs, I think I might be getting a bit of a bug fever, lowered with deep dish smoothies, roof rack. haha

there is an abundance of mk1s in South Africa, if I'm not mistaken they stopped manufacturing the mk1 shape in 2009. Some fly dubs over there .

I'm in the process of converting my golf into petrol, have a look at my thread and see if it interests your taste on the conversion!
rason being converting from diesel to petrol? Because the diesel bottom ends were smashed and I couldn't get my hands on a Diesel engine for awhile so I took another route which Pete jones had succeeded on and lead me to converting to petrol!

does anyone recommend a good rust repairer that doesn't charge insane prices ? in WA?

there's another golf popped u for sale today, thinking of going to check it out this weekend and maybe even that yellow one, his dropped the price.

been busy , building a computer and helping work mate move house, I'm bust and the week has just started! haha

                      many dub meets in wa?

I'll never understand people spending good money to convert the diesel's to petrol? If the diesel engine is in good running condition they're a great little car. they might not be fast but at 5l/100km why complain!

Gispon, i was just curious to know, but i would definitely keep it diesel if there's nothing wrong with the engine.

5steve, nope havent seen that one , is it possible to send me the link to the add? There is a 4 dr yellow one in Perth *Price Reduced* 1980 Volkswagen Golf Hatchback | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Mundaring Area - Mundaring

There was a white 4dr 1981 model on gumtree, but it was only on there for like half a day it was for $1500. wonder if someone scooped it up, but that quick ?

Its quiet depressing checking out all the hot dubs around especially mk1's! haha
