  • VIC 4 tyres

Looking for a set of 4 tyres to fit my mk4 gti 16' wheels.

    these are the wheels: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzIwWDk2MA==/z/7BgAAOxyQ45RAtsQ/$T2eC16d,!yEE9s5jGKoOBR!tsQEI0Q~~60_35.JPG

i need something with lower profile. i currently have 205/55 16 ZR 91W. (im not good with tyres so just wrote what they say!)

im putting these on a vr6 which will be running coilovers. second hand preferably because im not looking to spend too much.

    any out there?

    Mitch

i don't think you''l get much response unless you tell people what you actually want / need.

At a guess, you need 205/40x16 but as they say, lousy spec = lousy result.

            just do a 195/45/16 or 205/45/16
they match VR6 stock rolling diameters from memory

if the 205/55/16s are ok and want them gone cheap let me know. mine are apparently no longer road worthy

Yeh they have good tread, but ill have to keep them on till i get lower profile tires.

i probably didnt specify enough because i dont know what im saying.. never spoken about tires so yeh. but essentially ive stated what i currently have on the mk4 gti wheels, and just want tires for those same wheels with lower profile.. to go on my vr6

So from the info dylan gave im thinking and 45 are the measurements i should be looking out for in regards to profile. I DONT EVEN KNOW IF PROFILE IS THE RIGHT WORD! haha

i had a quick browse on vortex and i know now i need to add the wheel width as well.. which im not sure how to find. but most guys on there apparently, run 205/45 or 40/16.

the wheels you are buying (mk4 gti) are 16x6.5 so similar to the VR6 15x6.5
your VR should have 205/50/15 as standard, that translates into a 205/45/16 off the top of my head.

check out one of the many calculators in the wheel section to see for yourself

Go to a tyre shop with the VR6 & the old wheels & the new wheels.

Ask them what they recomend & get a price.

Do this at 3 different tyre shops.

If they all recomend the same size then you are pretty right.

Then try & buy some cheap 2nd-handies in the correct size.

Got an iPhone or smartphone? Download the free wheel calculator app. It works a treat! Even gives the % diameter difference.
