Are you sure you're actually scraping oil pan? 2.0L oil pan is above the subframe so you'd have to pretty unlucky to hit it.. Could always get engine mount spacers as well.
I was thinking spacers or Hockey Pucks. I'd actually prefer raising the motor and trans instead of a skidplate. Anyone know where to get spacers?
To be honest my main issue is the transmission guard which I believe is only on the automatic. I've only scraped the sump once and the subframe has been bumped/scraped a number of times....
Correct me if I'm wrong about it only being the automatic that has the guard thing. It really hangs low at the front.
I have, since nats, raised the front an 15mm and deleted the camber bolts. It's so much more drivable like this. Those douchebags on Vortex can suck my balls if they don't like my "gap"
Go for the engine mount spacers. You shouldn't have any problems with axle rub unless you go lower than the height you were at for the Nats. Skidplate's only good if you go rallying/off-roading, otherwise it just reduces the amount of clearance you have (hit hard enough and you'll still dent the sump). I bought my Mk4 engine mount spacers from EuroImageTuning, but they also have ones for the Mk3 too - Euro Image Tuning — Mk3 Motor Mount Spacers - I don't know what the difference is between the VR6 and 2L, maybe best to ask. AFAIK, VR6 and 2L engine mounts are structurally the same, so I can't see why the VR6 spacers can't be used on a 2L.
Sweet, I searched google for them before and came up with nothing.
I sent them an inquiry about shipping, that's usually the killer but it's definitely gonna be cheaper than a skidplate lol.
The spacers look like an inch or so, that's about how far my axles are from the frame. It may just clear. That part of the axle wouldn't travel as far as the hub end.....
Anyway, waiting on shipping quote. Thanks for the linky-link
Dunno if youre interested in a little more throttle response but could be worth doing the engine mounts at the same time. BFI stage 0.5 seem to work well
Not sure really, theyre brand new and for a vr6, was going to use them when I finally swap the vr6 motor over but that wont be for ages, and I don't need them for the motor thats currently in my car, so I could just buy another set if I ever do get around to doing the swap. Would want pretty much what they cost me but would save you a little shipping/time. Say $80 posted. Pm me if you're interested when you have the money and we can work something out
