  • WA WTB: Mk5 Golf centre vent assembly

So in the infinite joy of playing around with my car while removing the centre console to get to the back of the headunit one of the vent louvre assemblies exploded (read fell apart violently) on me showering my car in pieces of vent. Due to the enthusiasm of getting to tinker I was silly enough not to close the aircon duct and the inevitible happened and so now I am two pieces short of having a full vent assembly.

What I am after is the centre vent assembly from a Mk5 golf (or the passenger side louvre assembly). I have a 2008 R32, however I don't believe that it matters which variant of the golf the vent comes from as the pieces I need should be universal across all variants.

I can get a full NEW assembly from the US for circa $75 delivered so am looking for less than that... Let me know what you are after and we can go from there.

    do you have extended warranty?
And a friendly dealer? Mightn't hurt to ask if warranty would cover it (wouldn't divulge how it happened of course)

Not sure where you have priced the alternate from, but ECS tuning has this:
    Volkswagen R32 MKV 3.2 > Interior > Dashboard > ES#6839 Anthracite Dash Kit - 1K0898012

from all reports, the after-market vent assembly's are quieter and easier to move (they don't creak and crack like the OEM units).

I know exactly what you are talking about, because I did the same thing. I got hold of a new vent assembly but only needed one or two parts of it.

So if you can be specific as to which part disappeared into the bowels of the dash/console, I may be able to help. It can be re-constructed if you have all the bits

Hey All... Thanks to "Gene" on this forum I have a vent assembly on the way.

BTW I did call up VW to see how much it would cost and they said it would cost $213.74 for the entire vent assembly... Needless to say I am happy to have the forums to help me out.

This thread can be closed as I've sourced a replacement part.
