Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC WTB: WHEELS [16" 4x100 - 'mesh'/'basket weave' style]

I'm after some MESH/BASKET WEAVE style wheels for my 1983 E30, you know the type!

    Location: Melbourne, Australia

    Contact: 0432380609

Cost: Willing to spend up around $550 (Including shipping) [price negotiable considering condition and if they come with tyres or not]

Condition: Obviously reasonable (not buckled etc.) Want to be a able to chuck them on without having to repair them first!

Would be awesome if they were 57.1mm bore, but I realise there's not heaps out there so show me anyway!

    Cheers

    Hi there,

I'm afraid it will be difficult to find anything of this style and size (4x100, 57.1) in 16 inch. You will find 14 and 15 inch a lot more common.
Have a look in the parts for sale section on here; there is a very nice set of BBS RAs for sale at the moment...
    - Mk2 Golf GTI 16v, 2-door, Tornado Rot, BBS RS, 1988 - SOLD
    - E30 325i Coupe, Manual, Alpinweiss
    - E30 325i Touring, Manual, Diamantschwarz x 2
    - On the lookout for another E30 325i Coupe, Manual (red would be nice)...

Yeh i can't seem to find anything in 16" to fit on my e30!

Pitty, coz 16" seems to be the perfect size for e30's.

& i will look into them thanks!

Haha, yeah I was (Actually one day I will get a BBS RS set, just can't really afford it at the moment). I agree, 16 inch wheels look good on an e30, but they have to be 'dishy' and of the mesh/basket weave style.

As far as I know BBS RS is pretty much the only option if you want to go quality, otherwise there's still the eBay BB5 R5 replica option, etc...

        Good luck!
