Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SA "B" Fuse Box

A mate is building up a pretty little 77 mk1, he put in a super clean loom tidyed it all up went to start it and the head lights operate the wipers and a bunch of other fun stuff, after much fooling around it turns out it maybe a scirocco loom, not realy sure. Anyway The fuse box he is after has the code "171 941 813(or 821) B", its pretty much the same as the standard mk1 "171 941 813(or 821) A" except one of the ports has a lot less connections. We did locate a "B" but realised it was for a diesel as the A1 pin was a blank.

So we are looking for a fuse box with the A1 pin and the code "171 941 813(or 821) B"

Any help would be much appreciated, Cheers

I double checked my fuse box, it is also a blank A1 pin. It make no sense that VW made 2 different fuse boxes with same part number.

I guess he needs a different part number, according to vagcat.com, it could be 171941821C http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/GO/1977/1/57/10723/

Sorry can't help any further, or try grn_vagn's second hand parts

i got 2, both have lots of pins in A section, non in b, c d e and f do have pins

            Numbers on one is
            MRO
            171 941 813 B
            171 941 821 B

            Second is
            89 61 51 SHO
            89 61 61

            171 941 813 B
            171 941 813

both untested, both seem good though, one has a wire jumping something. ill leave it there for someone else to sus it out.

You need 171 941 813A fusebox. Its the ONLY one that has a pin in position A1

All my B and C versions dont have the pin in position A1

Available new from VW classic parts "171941821A" 75 Euro.

              Or heratige VW in UK

              Fusebox Golf/Scirrocco >1978 -- 171-941-821/A -- Volkswagen part from VW Heritage

Also means your wiring is from an early car too. Does it have a large relay in position J for the headlights ??
              Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

              Cheers,
