EOI: Bluetooth Group buy for RNS/RCD 510

Hi all,

am starting to think about getting a bluetooth module for the pogo when it finally gets here, i have the buttons on the wheel, I want to use them!

Have contacted an ebay seller regarding a group buy of a module along with the wiring and microphone lead, I'm waiting to see what required numbers he comes back with for a GB.

Let me know if you are interested, if he says we need 10 and I only get 3 EOI, I won't bother.

Depending on what reply I get, teh RCD/RNS 510 is a stadard unit accross the whole VW range so if it is in your Mk5 golf, tiguan, amarok etc, then this unit will fit it. As far as I can gerner, teh update was so it would work with the newer MF wheels installed on new models.

In regards to specs, it is the factory bluetooth unit with wiring harness and microphone, you may/may not require a re-program through VAGCOM but this will not work with the RCD 310 or 210 etc.

price on ebay is $350 USD plus I think $25 shipping. After a debarcle that was an ECS group buy, just a heads up, IF this goes ahead, it will only be after direct deposit into a bank account, I will then transfer that to my paypal account and buy that way, paypal is just too unreliable in regards to money transfers and they really do believe they are perfect, if they screw up with your money, you can kiss it goodbye forever!

Payno, this is apparently the standard VW one and is pretty easy to fit, the only thing is you might need a bit of VAGCOM action to get the steering wheel controls to work, not 100% sure though....

A dealer I visited suggest aftermarket would be better than vw original, as the aftermarket unit would allow use of the RCD-510 touchscreen, and transfer contacts etc., whereas vw unit wouldn't.

Can you clarify, please?

Also, will the unit allow Bluetooth Streaming of music, like my current car's unit?

Rob, of course they would say that because they have no idea! This is the factory unit and works with the RCD 510 touch screen and yes, it does apparently allow Bluetooth streaming but if you get the factory RCD 510 you will get the MDI so you can plug directly into it.
