Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW MK1 Front Strut Brace

Hey folks, after a strut brace to suit the MK1

Not all that keen on the ones i've found on the net/ebay, would prefer a good second hand neuspeed one or something along those lines

if anyone has one stored away in the shed or has some suggestions on where to purchase such an item without spending big dollars on shipping from oversears that would be great

    thanks, michael.

                What engine/induction are you running?

This is what i'm going to make for mine.... (I made this one too)

Tubular stainless with no bends. Bends give you a fulcrum and make them much, much weaker.

The difference this brace made to the car's braking and turn-in performance was chalk and cheese.

mk2 1.8 with twin dellortos, something like that would work well, I won't have any issues with height either, expensive to fab one up you think?

Didn't cost me much to do. I'll be making one pretty much the same for mine, but not for a while.. I can't remember how much the stainless tube was... But I bought a length.
