  • WA Wtb kr crank cover plate with crank position sensor

Hi guys i'm after the later model KR crank engine cover plate which came with the crank position sensor included. I need either this or a custom crank pully with a trigger notch to work with a crank position sensor to run the ignition timing of an aftermarket computer. I'm putting coil packs in so need a sensor to trigger ignition for the coil packs. I believe late model KR's had a cover plate for the crank with this sensor included? Loon or pete got anything in the shops?

What after market computer are you running? You can use the factory hall sensor in your dissy to trigger most aftermarket computers, are you using an ignitor as well or do the coil packs run their own ignitor?

All KRs came with clockwork ignition and injection. Are you thinking of a 2 litre ABF, even then I am not so sure they run a crank position sensor.....

Triggering off the dissy would be the way to go.

Now to find the part number...
        Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

        Cheers,

I have never seen one of them before guys.

I would use the dissy as a trigger , much easier and cheaper.

Part number from Roccodingos pic is 036 105 183 C
I reckon its more likely to be from an Audi or similar than a 16v Golf.

Yeah, thats the one Grant, champ. Just goes to show that there are still secret stock parts to provide factory interfaces to hot parts.

These i'm led to believe came out on very late model KR ENGINES so NOT 2.0L ABF ETC.

I'm running a Haltech E6X computer and coil packs. The individual coil packs provide the spark which i need since i'm removing the crappy old distributor and will not require a conventional coil. Removing the distributor gives me fully computer programmable ignition timing and as a bonus removes the tiny parasitic horsepower loss driving the dizzy and about 1kg of weight from the car. This sensor will output the crank position to the computer from which i can programme the ignition timing The goal is infinite tunability on this motor and the dizzy timing and spark just can't do that as quickly as computer controlled ignition will. I got the coil packs at cost so I'm using them for my race car motor.

The KR is a much older engine than the ABF, first released around 1984 the ABF came out around 1993. The ABF had digifant electronic management. There's no way that part is off a KR.

Just going to look at ETKA.

My ETKA which runs up to 2005 doesn't recognise the number, it not conclusive but I'd say it's from something newer than that.

That seal housing is probably from some other more modern 1.8 or 2 litre engine. VW would be able to get one once you check the number is good.

Interesting gadget, I wonder how it's keyed to the crankshaft.

I've got an AGG 2.0 here, it's got an internal wheel like the ABA and BEW motors.

Just took a look at a MK4 Bentleys and couldn't see anything like it

apparently the part number is 038 103 171 s. can you check that on etka someone so i can order this bad boy, just 3 things left now for a berg cup powered kr in a 800kg mk1

and to satisfy the curious this is actually off a 2005 - 2007 Jetta TDi. It is available here but i reckon i could find it cheaper somehwere like bus parts

was going to go down this path but for the $130 it would have cost i just made my own alloy crank trigger wheel and installed some rare earth magnets, Haltech individual coil packs are now in my posession and it's one less job to get this car going.
