  • TAS Early-style Mk1 LS front door catches

Hoping someone has a pair of these to save the delay of importing from o/s. Happy to buy outright or swap for other bits you may need.

Note: these are the internally-mounted, 'small' catches, similar to this:

    Cheers

I've got a spare pair of doors that should still have their catches in them, I'll take a look and see if they're a match.

Yep, got a set, they're the same as the ones on my 74 LS.

PM me an address to send them too. (You in Melbourne yet?)

How fast do you need them and do you need all the rods that go with them?

I've just pulled the ones out of my doors, I can ship you those tomorrow and pull the others off the spare doors later on. They're all in about the same condition.

I won't bother shipping you the European wasp that was making the drivers door lock his new home though

Just saw this request. I've got a few Stu that i could have sent you man but Pete jumped in forts (good to see you are going with doors minus the intrusion bars (saves a lot of weight). On another note do you know of anywhere that you can source the handles for these latches new. I've bought heaps of new handles which are supposed to be the push in actuation handles but always end up being bloody push down style handles.

In this doorcatch thread of love, if any of you have the locking part of the early handles, its the funny shaped U cast piece from the drivers door of a 76 or earlier. Mikinoz needs one for my old 5 door 16v. We have never been able to make it work well, or find the missing piece.

Good to see some networking and parts swopping guys, thats what this place was created for. And yes Pete is a legend.
Sent me some hubs so I can create big brake kits. Progress soon.....

Good question, and yes You need to source some Scirocco 1 (2 as well?) handles from Typ17/Volkswarenhaus (probably the easiest way) or a guy called Andreas Pfeiffer in Austria who deals a lot in Scirocco parts (can give you his number if need be - he only speaks German, but happy to call him for you if you get stuck!).

IIRC, too, the scirocco latches are exactly the same as the early Golf ones - perhaps Loon or roccodingo can confirm this; I haven't had much to do with Sciroccos at all

P.S. Door handle in German is 'Türgriff'

Mk2 Rocco has the Mk2 style handles that push downwards.
