Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

really need a usable engine mount/bracket for drivers side.
My rubber is completely shagged, and the bracket its self is too long and i dont want to cut this one.

My engine is currently held in by 3 mounts and a jack LOL

    Cheers

You need a GTI or cabrio side mount. The early 1.6 ones have the alternator bolt built into it.
They are hard to get and most 2nd handies will have shagged rubber bushes.
I grabbed 2 new ones when I did the rocco, I still have a brand new bracket and mount, race spec from the states at the shop.
Probably owes me $150 at least.
Hit me up on Tuesday if you want it.

Not too sure to be honest.

The one i have has the alternator bit on it, and is rather long.
Ill see if i can find a pic of what one i need.

Actually, the 2L that Pete put in his mk1 has the right mount if you know the one

Yup that is the later GTI style mount.
It has a bigger metal hoop than the one on your 1.6 mate and thus a bigger bushing.
It also doesnt have the metal alternator bracket built in.
The GTI Mounts come in different flavour, GTI, 16v Scirocco, Fast Street and Race to name a few permutations.
You can buy all the different sizes of insert, but make sure you get the right one and have a press, or buy a new one with the bushing already inserted.

Ill most likely get the one of You Matt, but as i said in a PM gotta wait bit. This "simple" engine swap is turning into a nightmare LOL
