Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW wheels (with tyres?) with a 5x112 stud pattern - ~ET42. diameter - open

I need some new tyres for my Skoda Octavia and thought I may as well ditch my 17x8BBS (ET35). Extremely open to ideas.

I need a stud pattern of 5 x 112 (eg Most later Audis, Passats, MkV / MkVI Golf & Jetta, Skoda Octavia, etc).

I've been running 17x8 BBS with an ET35 and I want to get back to something around 40-42mm (not as much outward poke).

happy to stick with 17" or go up to 18".

In fact, if the price is right & the tyres are good, I'm happy to go back to OEM 16"

Anyone got anything taking up space in their garage?

Nice wheels - I saw them on eBay. The tyres are way too big though - they'll add almost 50mm to the overall diameter. I'd need to fit 215/40x18s or 225/35x18.

Anyway, I'll keep it in mind & see what turns up. Thanks

I have these BBS on ebay at the mo.
17" BBS Wheels for Audi A4 5 x 112 or VW Golf Mk5 - eBay Wheels, Wheels, Tyres, Car, Truck Parts, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 02-Oct-10 22:46:33 AEST)
They would bolt straight onto an Octavia, 17s, staggered offset, recent high performance tyres.

I saw those. I didn't like the staggered offset. I'm a chronic tyre rotater.

You can call off the search for a bit. Bought 4 as-new rims & Michelin tyres (<1000km on them) for $400. Not sure about the rims (ET50) but the tyres will be fine. Will find out Saturday when I pick them up

Thanks for your interest and help folks
