I have a Mk2 GTI 8V 1988 German built (UK import) in original condition (wheels changed but originals kept) in storage in Sydney. It was my daily driver for 6 years before leaving to go overseas (still here). I will sell it for the right money as my wife is putting pressure on me. It's mechanically fine (slight tappet rattle sometimes), high mileage (driven in 3 continents), very reliable, good nick except for some patches of rust in tailgate and fading of metallic silver paint (on bonnet). Sunroof, Thatcham immobiliser etc. Would return to perfect condition for $1-2k max (body, interior & mech). Less if DIY

Alloy wheels were added after I brought it to Oz. 15" + Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres. The handling is superb due in no small part to its light weight.
