  • NSW MKIV Golf rear valance with exhaust cutout

I'm wanting to change my downturned twin tips to straight twin tips to try and reduce drone.

Anyone know where i can get one?
Were they available as standard on any models? Or do you need to mod a bora one etc etc...?

If it's colour coded, i'd need it to be reflex silver...

Or is it possible to mod my existing black (unpainted) plastic valance to suit without looking dodge?

    Cheers

Mate I might have a solution.

I have a 4Mo Bora and want to get rid of my existing rear valance. it has the cutouts for the twin rears on the left. It's just the standard black, and I don't think these ever got colour coded.

If the Golf and Bora ones are interchangeable, I'd love to take yours (if it has no cutouts). I've just bought a R32 exhaust and want to cut my own holes from a no-hole valance

Silver Dub needs to chime in here. he swapped/modified his to gain a cut out on his bora.
I did have some problems at one stage trying to fit a front golf valance to my bora, the bend was a tad different and some clips towards the middle didnt line up (these can be cut off)

Yes, I noticed on a few threads the fronts will differ with the valances across golf and bora.

However, surely the 2.slo and v5 are the same as the v6, so i gain a non-cutout rear valance?

hey guys, the overhang of the Bora verses the Golf is way different. There is no possible way that they can be interchanged!!

Where did my cutout rear valance come from Andrew? I always thought it was of a 4Motion?

So how come it isnt interchangeable then if its on his? Did it have to be modded to fit it?

The golf 4motion one will fit a golf, it is neccesary to trim a small piece of tinware but it fits nicely.

i belive golf on golf is fine, and bora on bora is ok, as gtimk5 has pointed out.

Id be looking up a parts site for part numbers for a golf rear, then seeing if they match the simular parts in the bora section and cross referencing

that'd work pretty well... did you still want to do it? i was actually thinking of trying to change my center box (resonator) first of all to a larger one, then if it still droned, then i'd try changing to straight tips.

I wonder how much the dealers sell them for, might give em a call. actually i could probably just try a wreckers...

if you check out milteks site and search for golf exhausts, they tell you the part number you need if you want a straight tipped exhaust Volkswagen Golf Mk4 GTI 1.8T exhaust products

found out its $160 new from vw or about $100-$120 wreckers (cause the wreckers give you a valance with a bumper attached as they are unwilling to separate).

i'd go for yours but everyone says the Golf and Bora bumpers won't work, so i've assumed the valances won't work too.

if the Golf one is the same as the 4cyl or V5 Bora one then i'll do you a straight swap for sure.
