  • NSW Mk1 Cabriolet Hydraulic Roof Pump Part

Hi, I'm having trouble finding a certain part for the hydraulic roof pump on the cabby. It's the plastic thing that screws into the bottom of the metal pump that holds the fluid.

Over time and under pressure, the plastic part has cracked away from the screws causing fluid to leak. Maybe it could be glued or fiber glassed, but not sure it would hold the pressure.

So...anyone that has one or could point me in the right direction to source one, much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Alex

          Alex,

Send Pommy Darren ( a11djr) a message, as I know his fluid reservoir had the same problem a couple of months ago

Ah...a11djr emailed me a while back, he has the same problem still.

I might try and contact a few people in the UK who are breaking/wrecking Cabriolet's.

The plastic cap is actually the bottom of the oil tank.

You need to find a knackered pump and remove the end housing from it. If you are still stuck I could look at the cost of getting a few made, let me know.
              Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

              Cheers,
              Grant...

Do what I do...put the roof down by hand....mine is a manually-operated roof, so it's one less Mk1 thing to go wrong !!!

Yep thats the part that shat itself. I'm looking for a knackered pump to take the plastic thing of. How much would they be to make up?

Putting the roof down by hand is ok, not too bothered about it. It's just nice to have it seeing as I've got part of it. It works (worked) fine other than that.

will have to strip a sample from my spare pump then get it quoted. May not be as "see thru" as the original tho, trying to keep the plastic thicker...

Wow, expensive. Although it is the whole pump. Don't need the whole thing tho, keep looking I suppose haha.

Hey Alex, throw up a picture of this part. I work in plastics, I can tell ya if I can fix it.
If I think I can, squeeze it in with the coils and send it to me, I'll see what I can do, then post it back to you.
