Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I need a set too. Mine are both faded and britle. Do they come with clips? You can't take the old ones off without busting clips!
    I have a 5-door.

Okay, I will wait till mine come in then have a look.
I will work out about the clips then.

In the mean time, I am asking them in UK to try sourcing about 4 more strips.

Okay they may have sourced a pair for Spyda... and I have put through the requests for the rest of you, except JD, need to know doors.

Ohhh and before people miss this point and I am happy if people want to withdraw if not understood... please note:
These strips are not "Brand New" they are used, but considered in "Very Good Condition". (Good for many years to come)

This is kinda why they are $120 a strip and not the $350 a strip VW quoted me on....

VWvortex Forums: Door Seal Rubber replacement - MKII GOLF 2 Door

is it the rubber on the inside or the whole assembly?
coz i need the both sides of rubber door seals for a 2dr, as the image from the link shows.

                thanks

                  Hey Stiggy,

Well as per the pic, the outer piece that looks like 2 pieces is actually one... this is the drip rail that I am sourcing as everyone seems to have the exact same issue as per the pic. The inner rubber is the door seal which is NOT what we are listing here, I haven't looked but I believe since the door seal is a "Standard" strip, it's rather easy to come by... unlike the drip rails.

i was looking on an american forum with these issues and used a cheaper replacement rubber - dont know how long it will last tho

Yeah I read through that a while back, doesn't seem to be a "real" fix though...

By the way, want to see me your car???
DAMN! - One of only a few MkII 16v 3dr GTI's in AUS!
Been thinking of importing one for my project, but need to save some $$$ for the next few months...

Anyway, will see what we can work out about the strips...
