I'm also now looking at 17's as an alternative, stock looking ones, like some BBS or even the bora 17's

          thanks heaps gareth

that wheel and tyre package from tempe is tempting... i've emailed them to ask what tyres they come with so i can work out how much i am basically paying for the wheels...

and doing the ebay thing from the UK, 275pount is about AU$460
          then 190 pound = AI$320, so $780 total...
so about $700 more, but no tyres.

i'm thinking probably the best bet is to go with Tempe tyres then depending what they put on.
Can anyone vouch for their quality and appearance?

It'd be fine to keep my stock GTI brakes with these wheels yeah?? i.e. it won't look silly or wheels too heavy?

          cheers

I will have a set of Siatas for sale soon. Mk4 PCD and offset is compatible.

Some people like them, some don't. I won't take offence if you dont.

there is a mk4 parked near me during the day with them on, might be able to snap a photo if you like.

i did a google search to see what they looked like cos your image didn't load for me the first time.
anyway i found a thread on here with them on a polo and thought they looked pretty good, then realised it was your polo, haha.
To me I don't think they'd suit the golf as well though, but thanks anyway.
might be usefull to take that pic for when you do sell em though.

cheers... not a bad option, could be a bit of effort to get people to post wheels though, would be awesome if that parcel forwarding thing also picked up your wheels...!

No problems, for OEM looking I think they are great, but they are not the toughest looking wheels around...

here is a guide of some suitable vw wheels

the 'top of the line' tyres that come with the tempe aristos are kumho ku23's
Can't find much info on them, anyone used em? I could change to ku31's for an extra 200...

I had Ku31's fitted for 110 a piece 6 months ago. don't see why they would need to be $200 more, but I would not be confident with the 23.

If you buy from tempe, get them to show you the manufacture date of the tyre, should be less than a year, I get the impression they have old stock...

110, that's crazy cheap, in what size? they quoted me 160 for 225/45-17 and 200 for 225/40-18 (though not sure they guy paid much attention to the exact sizes i was asking for...)

205/40/17. I rang them and told them the price I wanted them for, they said ok... it was mid week, which may have helped, they get manic on the weekends.

once over 205 size they get a bit price'er .. every tyre does tho! esp in 19s.

I've got the ku31s up front now on mine, i wouldnt use them again tho to be honest. I would go back to Toyo (expensive) alternatively i would use Adrenalins or Primacy's or something similar as well.

Good tyre in the wet and dry, especially for the costing. (ku31)
